Incredible Hurricane Hunters Story

Here’s an incredible story written by a member of a Hurricane Hunter crew that flew into the eye of hurricane Hugo in 1989. They were the first flight to penetrate the storm, and made the mistake of underestimating it. Their plane suffered severe damage and they barely escaped with their lives. Great read.

These were taken later in the day than the other pictures. The winds were higher, and it was raining hard. Chris and I were soaked to the bone after being out there.

Today Hurricane Frances made landfall in florida. My friend Chris invited me to a hurricane party at his house but first I made a little detour to Jacksonville Beach to see how the storm was doing.
